Swim

The pool at Lincoln Square Athletic Club officially opened a couple months ago and I've been eager to jump in but don't have any swimwear designed for lap swimming. I'd also love something I can wear paddleboarding in the summer. I'm liking these options from Lululemon and Athleta.

Apartment tour

One of my favorite bloggers, Joanna Goddard featured the apartment of Jordan Ferney (another fave) on her blog, A Cup of Jo, this week. It's such a happy and inviting space. I love Jordan's tips for living in a small space. I'm itching for a good spring cleaning and am looking forward to getting rid of all the extra stuff that has piled up in my apartment! See the original post and more photos here

The original Mr.Big

Every once in a while I catch this song on the radio and it evokes happy memories of watching mtv after school with my older brother. I adored Mr.Big and still own Lean into It on cassette. I'm so glad I looked up this music video...it made my day (the hair!).

Flower and Garden Show

Attending the Chicago Flower and Garden show is a family springtime tradition. This year I took along my newly gifted SLR camera to practice shooting in different modes. I still have a lot to learn but I've always loved photography so I'm looking forward to learning!

airbnb

I've got a serious case of wanderlust and have been daydreaming about taking off somewhere. The cold, grey weather here in Chicago sure isn't helping. Have you ever rented someone's apartment or home when traveling? I think it seems like a fun and cozy alternative to staying in a hotel and a great way to immerse yourself in the culture of a new city. I've been browsing through all the unique spaces listed on airbnb, which range from treehouses and cabins to modern loft spaces and victorian castles. Love this cute little backyard cabin on Capital Hill!

Being Green

I dusted off my juicer this month and have been making a lot of green juice in honor of St. Patty's Day! I like this recipe and have made it using both apples and pears...both are delicious. Prepping all the ingredients and storing in a ziploc bag beforehand has been a huge time saver. Just toss in the juicer and it's ready in seconds. I like to chill the juice in the fridge while I clean up (the most time consuming part of juicing).

Danny's Egghead Diner

Talitha and I ventured out in the slushy snow a couple weeks ago to try a new breakfast spot in North Center, Egghead Diner. The savory: Roasted Vegetable Hash. The sweet: Crunchy French Toast. The food was good, but the service was great- very polite and attentive. I don't think my coffee cup ever went below 2/3rds full before someone showed up for a refill!

Sevenly

The Voice Project is an attempt to support these incredible women and to amplify the peace movement in central Africa, and an effort to see how far a voice can carry. Our purpose is to learn the issues that break God’s heart, engage with the people who are called to the issue, and create awareness & a funding movement that supports them in their efforts.

I recently discovered Sevenly, an organization that partners with a new charity weekly. They create a different t-shirt campaign each week that helps bring awareness to that week's cause. On top of that, $7 from each purchase is donated to the charity. The goal is three-fold, to bring awareness, help fund, and build a following. Check it out! Perhaps, you'll find an organization that speaks to you (and get a cute t-shirt in the process)!
