Party of Two
Christine came over on Sunday for a little party of two to watch the Academy Awards. We drank French 75's and snacked on cheese and crackers, chocolate dipped clementines, and caramel corn (a favorite family recipe).

Bongo Room
The Bongo Room has been on my list of restaurants to try for quite some time but it's a bit of a trek to the South Loop for breakfast. So when I found out there was a location nearby in Andersonville, I wanted to try it right away. The savory: Chorizo, avocado, and potatoe omelete with a side of more potatoes. The sweet: Pear and dried cherry french toast. Yum!
Vegetable of the Month: Fennel
One of my goals for 2013 was to feature a different vegetable each month in my cooking. January's vegetable was fennel. I enjoyed fennel best served raw in salads. My favourite combination was fennel paired with avocados and oranges. Find the recipe for this quick and easy salad here.
